Rural Border Intervention (RBI) Program is designed to strengthen substance abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment services for adolescents and adults living in rural communities along the Texas-Mexico border. The RBI Program focus on providing comprehensive services by directly delivering services to participants as well as linking participants with available resources in Region 8. Services are delivered in Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Kinney, La Salle, Maverick, Real, Uvalde, Val Verde, and Zavala Counties.
To increase protective factors, enhance resiliency, and decrease risk factors.
To encourage bonding with peers, family, and community to help prevent drug use.
To provide adolescents and adults with evidence-based interventions who are in need of, but are not able or ready to enter, substance abuse treatment services or to adolescents and adults at high risk of developing substance abuse problems.
To ensure that participants are provided with information and resources to access support services.
